Bo had an excellent first triathlon on October 12th, 2008. it was Try Andy’s Tri in Sugarland Texas near Houston. The distances were a 300 meter swim, 10 mile bike and 3 mile run. He finished 3rd of 11 in the 15-19 age group with a 55:50.2. He was 43rd overall out of about 620 individual competitors. He had the fastest bike split in his age group at 24.1 mph. Bo rode the #067 Trimble frame from 1990 with Profile clip on aero bars, Zipp 303 tubular wheels and veloflex carbon tires. See the tech section for an update on the bike’s components.
[/caption]Dad was expecting to beat Bo on the swim, but even though Bo’s swim time of 6:45.9 was only good for 8th in his class, he still beat Dad’s 9:07.2! That was with only one practice swim before the race.
Dad couldn’t challenge Bo in any of the disciplines and finished 20th of 28 in the 50-54 age group with a 1:09:56.0. Time to loose weight and step up the training! He rode the Red Aero from 1991 with Sugino aluminum rear disc with Veloflex Carbon tubular tire and bladed 28 spoke front wheel with Tufo S3 Lite 19mm tubular tire. We had a great time, this was a very well run event with 850 competitors. The weather was perfect as well. With a little work on his swim, Bo will be at the top of his age group in the next tri!
Great job Bo, looks like your getting faster.
Great job on your first Tri Bo! I want to see you battle Hannah.
