Green Aero restoration

The Green Aero ready for North Carolina!

I recently restored and updated Nate’s bike, know as the Green Aero.  This frame is from the original prototype molds and was built in Natick Mass, probably in 1989 or so. Nate is attending Lees McCrae college in Banner Elk, NC and is on the bike and running teams.  He will put the bike to good use there staying in shape for various racing disciplines.

To get it ready, I installed a Dura Ace 7400 crank, rear derailleur and freewheel.  Also new Vittoria Diamonte Pro tires in silver were installed on the clincher wheelset I built in Alaska.  This wheelset has been amazing – with the zero dish rear wheel allowed by the offset frame, it has been in service over 25 years with 10′s of thousands of mile and has never been trued! The rear shift cable path was also updated for better shifting. Ultegra brake calipers had been previously added.

James where are you these days? I have moved to Los Angeles(3 years ago). My daughter is 30 years old now and lives in Brooklyn and is good friends with Kalim Armstrong, Davids friend. Wow small world. My Aero Dillo bike is still in New Jersey, seeing this I need to get it out here to ride. Its almost vintage!

Frank! Good to hear from you! I live in Houston now with some traveling to NYC to work with my brother in architecture. You should definitely get the Aero Dillo out and back on the road! 5 of my kids are in Houston, Dave’s in NYC as you know and Nate and Hannah are going to school and racing bikes at Lee’s McCray college in North Carolina. We are looking at getting the Aero Bike back into production in the next year or two!
