Here’s our campsite.
Dad, Nate and Bo raced the TMBRA series Single Track Stampede at Reimer’s ranch park west of Austin on April 13, 2008. It’s a beautiful venue in the Texas Hill country. The course is a rider’s course – some very technical rock gardens and step-ups plus sweeping turns and high speed downhills. Nate raced expert 19-29 and finished 10th of 17. Bo raced Sport 15-16 and was 3rd of 6. Dad raced Sport 50+ and was 14 of 17. Dad and Bo both had mechanical problems that slowed us some. We love this place, we used to do Dirty Du’s here – its increadible. There is an awesome 8 mile narrow twisting with rises and dips rally road leading to it off the main hiway - Dad and Bo ripped it at rally pace in the EVO on the way in!
Here’s the 29R fitted with Dugast 43mm MTB tires – sweet – they worked well!
Bo’s friend Lexi on the right. She started 5 min behind Dad then passed him within a quarter lap!
Nate climbing into the feed zone on his 3rd lap.
Mr Bill our team manage, ready to hand up food and water to Nate.
Dad and Bo in our Solar Eclipse team jerseys in the team tent. It’s a sweet set up with the tent – really helps on race day!
Hannah’s friend and competitor Kara Uhl. She races Jr. Expert
Nate with race face on the start line. He know’s he’s about to suffer big time!
Baby Dylan and Jessie at Mom’s when I picked up Bo.
What a beautiful little baby, Dillon is. Fred & I especially love his long eye lashes. So great to have a site like this for the Trimbles’ to keep up with each other. Thanks for sharing, one and all.
Great race report here JT. Welcome to the team
We need to make a trip out to Riemer’s this summer and enjoy the beautiful Texas hill country wilderness. One of my favorite places in the world.
Nice report! I want those Dugast tires on my bike. Any flats yet with them?
I need some new tires for my 29r. I’m also interested if you’ve had many flats JT. What’s the width on those things? Do they come in a 1.9? That’s what I’m really looking for lately, a 1.8 or 1.9.
To answer Dave and Wheat – no flats on the Dugast tires. I’ve done a mud cyclocross and 2 MTB races so far. Reimer’s is especially rocky and thorny. I’m not running sealant in them either, just the dense high thread count quality cotton casing seems to keep out the thorns and rock cuts. Last year I ran a lesser quality Vittoria 34mm tire with only one flat all year so it’s a reliable set-up. Wheat, you will have to custom build a tubular wheelset if you go that way, and the Dugasts are expensive ($120 ea) but the ride and lighter weight is worth it in my opinion. They are available in 43mm (1.7) and 45mm (1.8). It also takes some learned skill to glue them on, but Bud has done it before.
JT, thanks for the intel. I went with some locally available 29×2.1 WTB nanoraptors for now. Pulled a 16 mile ride today through rough ground and had no problems. The Dugast are definitely on my list for a future tire though. Very nice!
this is awesome mr. trimble. thanks for telling me about the site
