Here are some photos from Tunis Roubaix, a Roubaix style race through unpaved Texas country roads. I raced the normal cat 4-5 race and the collegiate race finishing 2nd and 6th.
The roads were pretty rough and rocky.
I got the classic Roubaix experience on the old steel MKM.
My dad raced his aero bike.
Looking classic on my old steel bike. It rode well on the rough roads.
Here I am trying to recover from my first race and get ready for the collegiate race. There was a solo break in the 4-5 race that won, and I won the sprint for 2nd place.
My friend Carl. Unfortunately, he flatted out or else we would have broken away.
Me ready to represent the Cougars in the collegiate race.
I had the oldest bike in the race but the fanciest tires.
I hung with the lead pack until the end which gradually shrunk to about 10 riders. Unfortunately, I got dusted in the sprint and finished 6th.
I’m feeling the pain in the uphill sprint for the finish.
I’m totally walled out after over a hundred miles of racing on rough dirt roads.
Here is a picture of Baby D. just because he’s cute.
Excellent race report Nate! Congrats on the nice finishes on that vintage MKM!
Fantastic pics Nate! A very complete and well documented race report. Well done once again!
Two races in one day?? Nate is a beast!!!!!!!!!
