I spied this vintage and very rare Trimble Olympic track time trial bike from 1984 at local bike shop, Speedway Cycles in AK today and had to share it. This unit is owned by renowned AK racer Gregg Matyas. A similar bike was ridden by Steve Hegg in the Olympics. History wise, this was the precursor to the Kestrel and is a very rare find indeed! A nice piece of Trimble Racing history.

Who built that frame? James or Brent. It’s not a track bike as it has shifters. We need more info

  2. I have never seen a Trimble like that

Brent built this frame. It’s a very early stage racing bike that would eventually become the Kestrel design.

Here’s the scoop from Greg Matyas. This bike was given to Andy Monaco by Flat Bush in the mid 80’s and then sat in his basement for years and Greg asked Monaco if he could put it up in his shop (Speedway). Looks like we need to track Monaco for more details…

  5. What’s that thing made out of?

Says “Graphite Composite” on the side.

I spoke to Monaco’s dad today and gave him the address of TR, so hopefully we will have the real scoop on this vintage unit in a matter of days!

This frame, from what I understand, was built with fiberglass,Kevlar and graphite. I raced with this bike in the mid 80’s.
